KraftMaid’s New Whisper Touch™ Hinge Silences Slamming Cabinet Doors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – This fall, KraftMaid® Cabinetry will silence slamming cabinet doors with the launch of the Whisper Touch™ hinge. The soft-close feature is incorporated into the actual hinge, unlike other silencing products that require the installation of an accessory device at the jobsite. By removing the need for the extra device, the cabinet architecture has a cleaner overall appearance when the door is open, the need for field installation is eliminated, and costs associated with an extra device and cabinetry repair can be reduced.

The Whisper Touch hinge follows the soft-close drawer launched by KraftMaid, which standardized soft-close hinges within the industry, is built into the runner system and prevents the drawer from slamming shut. The device has become standard on most semi-custom and custom cabinetry. 

Prior to the launch of the Whisper Touch hinge, KraftMaid launched its largest product collection to date — with more than 30 cabinet doors, and more than 24 finishes and 100 hardwood choices. The 2011 cabinet collection, complete with KraftMaid’s limited lifetime warranty, is stained in variations that include maple, oak, cherry, birch and hickory. The new, elegant finish options include a sophisticated Sage, a classic Cardinal and a collection of vintage Patinas, while the newest hardware collection introduces 12 options ranging from classic to contemporary in finishes like Polished Nickel, Antique Pewter with Copper and Dark Brushed Bronze.
